Field Trip Programs:

Field Trip Experience:
While visiting Wellspring’s vibrant working farm, students participate in lessons and activities to engage their senses, and build connections with the source of our food. All visits are tailored to students’ ages, learning levels and classroom goals.
 
Field Trip Nuts and Bolts:
Wellspring field trips are offered on weekdays from 8 am to 4 pm, and are held rain or shine. Our site can accommodate up to 40 students per visit. Programs last 1 to 2 hours depending on program type and grade.
Indoor bathroom facilities are available. Wellspring does not have indoor lunch facilities but groups are welcome to use our picnic tables to enjoy lunch before or after their program.

 
Pre-K and Kindergarten 
Program Length: 1 hr.
Preschoolers will participate in gardening/farm related activities and games; meet and feed the Wellspring chickens and worms; and try new veggies! Young students will begin to make the connection that:

  • Food comes from farms
  • What a farmers’ role is on the farm
  • Soil, plants and animals work together on a healthy farm
*One chaperone is needed for every 4 students.
 
Elementary School
Program Length: 2 hrs.
Students will participate in an interactive tour of the farm; try seasonal fruits and vegetables; feed the Wellspring chickens; and participate in hands-on lessons and activities to discover and learn:

  • Where our food comes from
  • How plants grow
  • Plant and soil life cycles
  • Composting and worm composting
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Connections between healthy food and our bodies
*One chaperone is needed for every 6 students
 

Middle School and High School
Program Length: 2 hrs.
Students will participate in an in-depth tour of our farm, greenhouse and fields; try seasonal fruits and vegetables; participate in hands-on lessons and activities to discover and learn about:

  • Sustainable and 4-season farming methods
  • Soil science and fertility
  • Composting and vermiculture
  • Environmental stewardship
  • Food safety, sovereignty and security
  • Connections between healthy food and our bodies
*One chaperone is needed for every 8 students

CostsAll programs are priced at $5 per student (parents and teachers are free), with $40 minimum. A $40 deposit is due two weeks prior to the visit in order to reserve your space.
 
If you must cancel for any reason other then severe weather, please let us know two weeks in advance so we may fill your time. If you do not call to cancel, your deposit will not be refunded.

Group Tours: are available most weekday evenings and weekends.  Tours can range from 1-2 hours with different topics including; Diversified Vegetable Farming, Educational Gardens, Natural Environment/Habitat and Agritourisum.
The cost is $6 per person with a minimum of $40.
